Family Philanthropy Interest Circle Leader
Born in Zimbabwe, Anjana emigrated with her parents and 3 sisters to Augusta, Georgia in 1979. Growing up in racially divided Zimbabwe and Georgia, she firsthand faced injustices and deeply ingrained prejudices that molded her world view. Anjana married and moved to California in 1991 and graduated from San Jose State University in 1994 with a degree in Health Care Management. As a project manager for a prototype Computerized Patient Medical Record System for a local multi-clinic physician group, she assembled a coalition of hardware and software partners including Hughes Software, Dragon Dictation, and Pacific Bell.
After spending 4 years at Yahoo! in content development, specifically in the areas of healthcare and medicine, Anjana stepped away from work to raise her 2 sons. She stayed engaged by supporting school staff and committees for fundraising, communications, yearbook and newsletter publications.
In 2019, the Patel family launched Quad A Family Foundation where Anjana serves as the Director. In honor of 3 generations of family born on 3 different continents, the foundation focuses on impactful philanthropy in: India, Africa and United States (Bay Area). The foundation supports endeavors that innovate technology to scale impact in the areas of education, skill-building, justice, affordable housing and capacity building for non-profits.
Anjana enjoys spending time with her family, resistance training, reading, movies, hiking and traveling.
