Learning About Disability Issues in the Bay Area and Beyond

Join Kumiko Yoshinari, Ellen Lussier and other SV2 Partners for a Partner-organized learning event on the issues around providing effective support and assistance to people with physical and mental disabilities. The  keynote speaker, Judy Heumann, an internationally recognized leader in the disability community, will guide us through current programs and policies promoting disability rights. Judy’s talk will be followed by a panel discussion with two local non-profit organizations (Gatepath and Weingarten Children’s Center) focus on people with disabilities.

In this session, you will learn:

  • What is disability? How is it defined?
  • Which are the most effective policies and programs assisting disabled people?
  • What are the accomplishments and challenges of two Bay Area nonprofits working with disabled people?
  • How can we become involved in helping disabled people be fully included in society and actively participate in our communities?

Please RSVP to Kumiko Yoshinari. We look forward to seeing you at this event (conference dial-in number will also be provided). Please bring your own lunch.
