STRENGTH Grant Program

SV2's STRENGTH (Socially-minded Team Responsible for Enabling Non-profits To Grow & Thrive) Grant Program builds dynamic connections between Silicon Valley entrepreneurial energy and innovative nonprofit organizations in order to create or significantly enhance organizational effectiveness and capacity.

STRENGTH Grant Overview:

  • A STRENGTH Grant supports capacity-building activities, which change and/or strengthen the way public benefit corporations do business and focus on their internal needs. These activities take the grantee “to the next level” through an investment in their infrastructure.
  • STRENGTH Grant Recipients must seek to grow strategically and strengthen their operations in order to more significantly impact the community and the clients they serve. They must have strong leadership, visionary ideas, and have a plan to evaluate their work.
  • STRENGTH Grants are awarded through a Partner-driven process and, once a grantee is chosen, they work with SV2 Partners to best deploy the resources. Partners participate at every stage of the process.

Key Facts:

    • SV2 has one STRENGTH grant round annually, and the grant committee begins to work on this grant in January.  Beginning in 2007, STRENGTH grants will focus on Education for the next three years. A total grant of up to $150,000 will be paid incrementally over three years based upon the financial needs of the organization to implement changes and provided specific benchmarks are achieved annually.
    • STRENGTH Grants are by invitation only. No unsolicited proposals will be accepted. Organizations must be classified as non-profit 501(c)(3) public charities and must provide service in Santa Clara and/or Southern San Mateo Counties.
