New Grant Round for Out-of-School Programs

About SV2 Grants
- SV2 Grants support capacity-building activities, which change and/or strengthen the way public benefit corporations do business and focus on their internal needs. These activities take the grantee “to the next level” through an investment in their infrastructure. Learn more about capacity building.
- SV2 Grant recipients must seek to grow strategically and strengthen their operations in order to more significantly impact the community and the clients they serve. They must have strong leadership, visionary ideas, and have a plan to evaluate their work.
- Organizations considered for funding must have annual budgets between $0 - $2 million, typically under $1 million. Note that these guidelines may be narrowed in a given grant round by the grantmaking group.
- SV2 Grants are awarded through a Partner-driven process and, once a grantee is chosen, they work with SV2 Partners to best deploy the resources. Partners participate at every stage of the process.
- SV2 has three grant rounds annually, in the categories of Education, Environmental Sustainability, and International Development.
- A total grant of up to $150,000 may be paid incrementally over three years based upon the financial needs of the organization to implement changes and provided specific benchmarks are achieved annually.
- Many of SV2's grant rounds are by invitation only. No unsolicited proposals will be accepted for these rounds. However, some rounds (i.e. Education in Spring 2010 focused on Out of School Time Programs) are done as open RFPs. Organizations must be classified as non-profit 501(c)(3) public charities and must have an office in the Bay Area.
